RECKLESS REASONS
Clyde Parker was a big man, with curly blonde hair and
blue eyes, which squinted against the sun as he stared at
the house he had just purchased.
Excitement ran through his veins, like the blood of his
body, as he threw open the truck door, and climbed out.
Walking up to the front door, he couldn’t believe the
house was finally his. He actually owned a piece of the
earth, and he intended to work hard to keep it.
As he walked in the foyer of his new house, he smiled,
and spun around. Thankful he was alone. He didn’t feel
like sharing his excitement with anyone.
The ceiling in the foyer stretched high enough to make
Clyde tip his head, as he admired the way the sun spilled
through the glass.
“So you like it here?” He heard the voice asked, and
spun around in the direction it was coming from.
    “Who’s here?”
“Never mind that. I want to know if you like it here?” A
female voice asked.
“Yes, I do, as a matter of fact. I own this house, and
whoever you are, you need to leave.”
“Is that anyway to treat a guest?” He heard the voice
ask.
“I don’t remember inviting a guest over, so yes.”
“Are you always rude?” The voice asked lightly.
“Sometimes. Especially when I’m trying to enjoy the
peace and quiet. Now come out from wherever you are.
Show me your face.”
He heard her voice tinkle like a wine glass. “I’m right in
front of you.”
“You’re lying to me. If you’re right in front of me, why
can’t I see you?”
“I don’t know? Do you wear glasses?”
“Very funny. No, I do not. I also don't like whatever
game your playing. Now I’m asking you one more time to
show me your face, or I call the cops.” His voice was firm.
“Do what you want. If you can’t see me then you’re
blind. I’m right in front of you.”
“That’s it. I’m calling the cops,” He said pulling his cell
phone out of his pocket.
The tinkling of her laughter, made him stop. “What’s so
funny?”
    “Oh nothing.”
    “Tell me.”
“Well, I was just wondering if your calling the cops,
what are you going to tell them? That your hearing voices?
Face it, if you can’t see me, do you honestly think they’ll be
able too?”
Clyde shut his phone. “Just show me your face.”
