A Glimpse of Heaven
Today I caught a glimpse of heaven,
As I sat upon the beach,
My soul felt lost and depressed,
My dreams just out of reach.
The prayers they started coming,
I was asking for a sign,
Something to make me feel better,
In these desolate times.
You see I had lost my job,
I didn’t know what to do,
So I stared out at the ocean,
And that’s when I saw you.
At first I thought I was dreaming,
I blinked, but you were there,
Then I saw your hand reach out,
And wipe away my tear.
You smiled at me tenderly,
Your words I heard quite clear,
You told me it would be okay,
Because you’re always near.
And then I saw you point,
And couldn’t believe the sight,
I was looking through a window,
Made of sand just to my right.
Now look through there my child,
And tell me what you see,
I stared at the breathtaking sunset,
As my tears again broke free.
I felt the hand once again,
A caress upon my face,
I stared into the ocean,
My troubles now erased.
Then he whispered a few words,
That is forever part of me,
He said don’t carry your troubles,
Leave them here for me.
Everything that happens,
I sure do know it all,
That’s why I’m hear today,
Because I heard you call.
I tipped my head to look at him,
He smiled and disappeared,
So I stared back out the window,
And I wiped away the tears.
